In an attempt to improve the communications between the motion drives on a dragline and control monitoring, BMACO took the initiative said to be the first of its kind in the world to implement Profibus network communication protocol on its dragline. The trials resulted in success to the extent of adapting the system as a standard for communicating between the controlling PLCs and motion drives and implementation on more draglines.
